You can drop off your luggage and we’ll take it to Snowshoe for you and return it to the Minnehaha Springs Bottling Plant on Sunday. If you would like to wait and take off with fellow riders doing the 75 mile route, please feel free as they will start passing through around 10:00 - 11:00 am. If you have questions regarding the Lodge Loop or need directions to the starting point please contact us at victoria.paul@nmss.org or 304.343.5153.

RULE OF THE ROAD: We know that you know the Rules of the Road and that you are a safe cyclist, but let’s go over a few very important safety rules:

  • Helmets are required (Both Road and Trail!) at all times while riding and also while standing on the side of the road.
  • Stay close to the shoulder of the road.
  • Follow all the rules of the road, as if you were driving.  DO NOT run yellow or red lights. Stop at intersections, just as you do in your car.
  • Cyclist must stay on designated routes.
  • All bicycles must be in safe operating condition (tune-up). Our fabulous bike club is here to provide emergency repair-not tune ups for pre-existing mechanical problems.
  • Bicycle passenger carriers/trailers or seats for children and infants are not allowed.
  • If you need help of any kind along the route, pat the top of your helmet. This will alert the SAG  vehicle or any other staff of your needs.
  • Follow all signs and signals.
  • Only ride two abreast on the road.
  • Please no iPods or MP3 players along the route. This impairs your hearing for oncoming traffic and other cyclists. Our insurance policy reads: “use of cell phones or headphones during a strenuous physical activity like bike riding can only increase/impair your ability to avoid a dangerous condition/situation.”
  • Ride Marshals will be present on the ride to act as Safety Ambassadors by sharing cycling advice and encouraging safe cycling behaviors. Ride Marshals may also perform the role of first responders at accident scenes along the routes and identify unsafe cyclists to ride officials. If you are approached by a Ride Marshal, we ask that you are courteous and realize they are looking out for your safety and the safety of others around you.
